Le Menuisier

Le Menuisier wasn’t a pure Clandestine project, but it grew into it’s own crazy beast.

The inimitable Ridz, from Flightrider bags fame, built the frame himself back in 2016. Later, I added his frame braze-ons and brake mount, and guided him through building a nice lugged 853 fork. Then I built an elaborate front and rear rackset and a custom stem. While that lot was off to paint, Ridz constructed the intricate and insane wooden panniers, bottle cage tool casks, and wooden staved pedals. He laced up some wooden rimmed wheels, steamed his mudguards into shape, and turned a walnut seat post and headset top cap.

The bike was unleashed at Bespoked 2017, where it picked up the Brooks Choice award. It lives a quiet rural life now, being ridden around Ridz’s village doing odd carpentry jobs for the folk there.
